We worked closely with our client Amplifier to design and build theaudience, a music discovery tool that enables lovers of Kiwi music to connect with (predominantly) unreleased New Zealand musicians. At its core is a powerful self-service component where musicians can upload tracks to be streamed on the site, and set up their profile to automatically import content from other social networks. Artists and other visitors sign in (via Facebook, Twitter or Google) to enable a personal queue, multiple embeddable playlists, and the ability to vote daily for their favourite tracks. At the end of each calendar month, the most-voted unreleased track goes forward to receive funding from NZ On Air as part of its Making Tracks programme. The site features a persistent player interface, ajax loading of all pages, HTML5 audio playback and an adaptive layout from mobile to desktop.
